Letters to Penthouse meets Masterpiece Theater with a twist of Drunk History
Sir Laurent St. Wright – an Englishman in his 80’s - has had a fantastic career as an award-winning TV and movie director, spanning Hollywood’s Golden Age to his eventual retirement in the 2000’s (he even directed the legendary “lost” 1979 TV sci-fi series Atlantis Attacks). Now he prefers to indulge his hobby - collecting erotic stories from across history and the world – and he’s decided to read the best ones in his podcast.
Seated in front of a roaring fireplace with an ever-present glass of alcohol, the slightly clueless Sir Laurent (Larry to his friends) reads from his favorite erotica – but it’s all done verbatim. That means including every misspelling and every mistake, ultimately making for the most un-erotic experience. Fleshing out Sir Laurent’s stories are the Erotica Verbatim Players who take the roles of the various characters making the show half-narrated/half-acted.
It’s an anthology series that runs the gamut from silly to barbed political and/or social satire and are a perfect branded entertainment vehicle. Each one runs just under 10 minutes and while edgy and NSFW, has both intelligence and an undeniable point-of-view behind it.
Erotica Verbatim is written and voiced by Hayden Black - dubbed a "web sensation" (LA Times), "ridiculously funny" (Time Out) and "one of Internet comedy's brightest stars" (The Guardian). He created/wrote/produced Goodnight Burbank, Hulu’s first scripted half-hour comedy that uber-fan Mark Cuban personally licensed for HDNet.
